I saw this sign on my way to work today. I ind it interesting (annoying sometimes, but interesting) to see how American slang is used in advertising.

I also find it interesting to hear how American slang is adopted by other cultures. Yesterday I was shopping at Kohl's when I overheard a non-native English speaking clerk tell a disappointed customer, "I am totally feeling you right now."

Every day on my way to work, I pass a church with an electronic sign on its lawn. Recently, I was SHOCKED to see "Pure Sex" flashing on the board. It took me a minute to figure out that they're probably doing a series on sex within marriage or something, but really, couldn't they have thought of a different tagline?

And Porn Sunday? I don't even know what to think of that. First of all, I would argue that church isn't the proper forum to have a discussion about pornography. (And what could they say beyond, "It's wrong"?) Second, couldn't they have thought of a better name for the series? Something less titillating than "PORN SUNDAY"?

Last, I find it mildly amusing that the church's motto is "Loving God, loving people." Sex! Porn! We love people! (Leave your Bibles at the door along with your inhibitions, folks!)

My friend Dale forwarded me this email from Spirit Airlines regarding their "MILF" sale. Honestly, you'd think someone in marketing would've caught this. Dale says:

"Now we can all afford to buy our favorite MILF!!  WOO-HOO!!! America is probably the only country where we can get our own MILF's for such a great deal!!  God certainly has blessed America."

America is blessed, indeed.

I mean, how personal do you want to get in a greeting card? Whatever happened to plain old "Happy Birthday" and "Get Well Soon"?

There are all these "free" newspaper stands around Chicago, and people always mess with the letters to make them say "Pee" or "I Pee." Cracks me up every time.
