One of my friends from college, Kristin, got engaged on November 1, 2007. She and her fiance, Thomas, are planning to get married November 1, 2008. This makes wedding #1 for 2008 (2007's count: 6, not including one Rob was invited to that we didn't attend).
The engagement party was fun, though there was a lot of crying! and baby talk! and exclaiming! (None of which was coming from me.)
In September, Rob's older sister got married in a very lavish wedding. Rob was one of the groomsmen. The ceremony took place at Rockefeller Chapel, and the reception (also where everyone stayed) was at The Ritz. Needless to say, this was probably the best wedding I've ever attended, and was the perfect way to cap off a year filled with 6 weddings.
I have been extremely lazy about posting, mostly because my computer is old and slow to upload photos. Sigh.

Jocelyn is the very first friend I met at college (and in all of Chicago, for that matter). Our university was hosting a welcome barbecue behind my dorm, and I was talking to a group of people when Jocelyn and her roommate walked up. She and I started talking and have been friends ever since. It is so weird to think that she's married now!
At the reception, I sat with my college friends Katie, Nina and Kristin, and our respective others. We all lived in the same dorm my first year of college and have remained friends. Hard to believe it's been 7 years already!
Whatever I'm eating in this picture looks disgusting, but the food was awesome.

I am wearing the same dress I wore to Melissa and Andrew's wedding. Whatever. It's not like I have paparazzi following me. Also, I'm too poor to afford a new dress for every freakin' wedding we've been invited to this year.
P.S. Rob's sister is getting married in a few weeks. We thought that was the last wedding for the year. And then, Rob got an invitation for his former co-workers wedding in October. *bangs head on keyboard*

My friends Melissa and Andrew got married July 28, 2007 in St. Paul, MN. I met Melissa through her sister Erica. Erica and I went through a year of college together (she transfered), and have been good friends ever since. The wedding was beautiful, AND, the band they had at the reception was a Beatles cover band!!! How cool are Mel and Andrew? Pretty f***ing cool!
Jocelyn, my good friend from college, is getting married in August. Today was her surprise wedding shower, which was thrown by her younger sister. It was a really nice time.
This wedding marks Number 3 of 6 that Rob and I had to/will have to attend this year. Rodney is Rob's former co-worker, and Christina is his beautiful now-wife. I actually had fun at their wedding ... and I think the reasons were 1) I knew the two people getting married and 2) there was Greek dancing! So much fun! I convinced Rob to dance, which is no easy feat, lemme tell you.
I thought the cake topper was funny because it was modeled to look like the bride and groom. I also took a picture of my dinner plate because I thought the carrot/asparagus arrangement was interesting.

The night before the Gay Pride Parade was my friend Melissa's bachelorette party. We had delicious tapas at Cafe Iberico and then went to a drag show at the Baton Club.
Five days after I returned from Boston, Rob and I flew to Greensboro, North Carolina. His friend Lisa, who he's known for years and who I'd never met, was getting married. And as Rob's sister also lives in North Carolina, we were able to stay with her.
We arrived on Saturday afternoon after missing our first flight (the airline's fault, not ours) and having to spend 7 hours at O'Hare. Not fun. At all. But luckily, we were able to get on another flight. We went out for a nice dinner with Rob's sister and her fiance, and then went to bed.
Also, I was excited because shortly after we arrived, Monica informed us that one of their dogs had had puppies to weeks prior to our visit. They were sooooo cute! I fell in love with the pick of the litter, who was named Max.
Sunday was Lisa's wedding. It was held at a public park. We set off after Monica (Rob's sister) and Bill (her fiance) cooked us a HUGE breakfast.
Rob's sister was nice enough to lend us a car. After the wedding (which was really nice, small, and low-key, though I've never been to a wedding where people cried almost the whole time.) After we got back, we played with Monica's and Bill's dogs. They have thirteen. Seriously. They also have a big house.
Above is a picture of me and Lucky, the labrador/pit bull mix. She's the biggest and strongest of the pack, but oddly, is not the leader (that honor belongs to Jack, one of the Jack Russell terriers).
After we played with the dogs, Monica and Bill took us on a tour of their property and let us play with their lawn equipment. They own several acres.
Later that night, Monica and Bill cooked us another HUGE meal, on the grill. I got in some extra bonding time with Max. I luuuuv him!

And that concludes our North Carolina trip. It was a lot of fun.

My friend Maggie got married this weekend. I've known Maggie since freshman year of college, when we lived in the same dorm (she lived on the first floor; I lived on the third.) The wedding was lovely, as you can see. I got to see some friends from college who I haven't seen in a loooong time, so that was fun. Also, the ceremony was held in the suburb where Rob grew up, so between the wedding and the reception, he drove me around to show me different landmarks and places he knew as a child.
I think Maggie is the first friend I have who is my age and married. Wow. And this is only the first wedding of 2007 (there are several more in queue).

In January 2006, Rob's cousin Elva got married. The wedding was held at the Indianapolis Zoo in Indianapolis, IN. On the drive down, Rob, his parents and I stopped and had lunch with Rob's Uncle Johnny and Aunt Florence. Once we arrived at the hotel in Indianapolis, we only had an hour or so to get ready for the wedding. The ceremony was short and simple. Afterwards, we all mingled and had drinks. The Indianapolis Zoo is a beautiful facility overlooking a river. We took some good pictures. Dinner came next (Rob had the best prime rib he's ever had; he still talks about it!) Once the reception ended, Rob and his cousins and I went to a pub downtown. It was nice to meet Rob's extended family, especially his cousin who flew in from Hong Kong. And, the Sunday we drove back from the wedding was our 1-Year Anniversary!
